Entering the field of mathematics can be tough, and women often encounter specific obstacles. The exhibition offers a glimpse into the world of mathematics through photographs (by Noel Tovia Matoff) and excerpts of interviews (by Sylvie Paycha with Sara Azzali for some of them) of twenty women mathematicians throughout Europe. This website provides a platform for contact, exchange and mutual assistance.
The present exhibition has further triggered other similar projects leading to extended versions of the exhibition in various parts of the world, to name some examples, Cambridge in England, Aachen and Kaiserslautern in Germany and, reaching out to other continents, in Chile, in Australia and various countries around the Mediterranean.
The website for the various locations (VENUES) will be updated with a programme before the opening date. We will also continue placing feedback, pictures and extra resources afterwards
Despite Covid-19, we are happy to announce that the exhibition has been expanded with seven more European women mathematicians. The new catalog with 20 European mathematicians and detailed interviews and visual material is published! The former catalogue with 13 mathematicians is also still available here. This version also exists in Serbian language.
The next opening is on Tuesday, June 22nd at 7pm at the European Congress of Mathematics in Portoroz, Slovenia. The zoom link is available on the ECM8 calendar of events https://8ecm.si/calendar under 'Public events' in the slot corresponding to the day and time of the event.
You will find videos and scripts related to themes of the exhibition here. Do not hesitate to share with us any other media material you might find appropriate.
