Entering the field of mathematics can be tough, and women often encounter specific obstacles. The exhibition offers a glimpse into the world of mathematics through photographs by Noel Tovia Matoff and excerpts of interviews by Sylvie Paycha and Sara Azzali of women mathematicians throughout Europe. This website provides a platform for contact, exchange and mutual assistance.
The present exhibition has further triggered other similar projects leading to extended versions of the exhibition in various parts of the world. To name a few, Cambridge, Aachen, Kaiserslautern, Heidelberg, reaching out to countries around the Mediterranean and, beyond Europe, Chile and Australia.
The website for the various locations (VENUES) will be updated with a programme before the opening date. We will also continue placing feedback, pictures and extra resources afterwards
Despite Covid-19, the exhibition was opened a couple of times in 2020. The openings took place in Castellón, Spain, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in Knust-Kumasi, Ghana and in Belgrade and Novi Sad, Serbia.
We are happy to announce that the exhibition has been expanded with seven more European women mathematicians. We hope to be able to show the extended version as soon as the exhibition can be reopened in 2021. Also an extended edition of the catalog will be published asap with detailed interviews and visual material. The former catalogue with 13 mathematicians is still available here, and now also in Serbian.
You will find our catalogue here, videos and scripts related to the themes of the exhibition. Do not hesitate to share with us any other media material you might find appropriate.
