During my grammar school studies, where I was in a class with
a strong focus on mathematics, there were many girls, maybe
half boys and half girls, but none of the girls wanted to study
mathematics at university. At the Department of Mathematical
Physics, I was the only woman to study there and the first one
in ten years.

Before we had children, my husband and I worked together on our research. We could talk about it all day, and go on thinking about it when we went to sleep and when we woke up. [...] But when our first child was born in 2002, it was more difficult because we felt very tired. [...] I must say I was very lucky to have my husband, who helped me a lot, and thanks to him, I was able to return to research in mathematics.
